IS THIS YOU?

Plugged filters, clogged vents, and grease film in the electrical cabinet

LSE offers preventive maintenance programs on most makes of machines to keep your machine up and running. We will come in at regular intervals to check machine alignments and positioning to insure your machine will make accurate parts. We can also perform lubrication checks and mechanical / electronic tune ups on your equipment to reduce cycle time and keep it running smooth. We can perform machine inspections to alert you to potential problems that can be corrected at scheduled down times. If you are looking to purchase a used machine we can install it and set it up for operation.

Why Have a PM Program

The most important reason for a PM program is reduced costs as seen in these many ways:

  • Timely, routine repairs circumvent fewer large-scale repairs.
  • Increase productivity. A machine which is operating in-spec is faster and more accurate.
  • Reduced production downtime, resulting in fewer machine breakdowns.
  • Better conservation of assets and increased life expectancy of assets, thereby eliminating premature replacement of machinery and equipment.
  • Reduced overtime costs and more economical use of maintenance workers due to working on a scheduled basis instead of a crash basis to repair breakdowns.
  • Reduced cost of repairs by reducing secondary failures. When parts fail in service, they usually damage other parts.
  • Reduced product rejects, rework, and scrap due to better overall equipment condition.
  • Identification of equipment with excessive maintenance costs, indicating the need for corrective maintenance, operator training, or replacement of obsolete equipment.

Our recommended once a year program includes, but not limited to:

  • Cleaning
  • Removal of covers and access panels and cleaning inside electrical enclosures
  • Replacement of all filters
  • Inspection of all ways, motors and air logic circuits
  • Inspection of power supplies, CNC controller
  • Testing of communications ports and upload/download speeds
  • Inspection of spindles/arbor assemblies
  • Reassemble and test running of all serviced functions

How to Have a Successful PM Program

The key to a successful Preventive Maintenance (PM) program is scheduling and execution. Scheduling should be automated to the maximum extent possible. Priority should be given to preventive maintenance and a very aggressive program to monitor the schedule and ensure that the work is completed according to schedule should be in place. LSE can alert you when upcoming scheduled maintenance is due and work within your shop load schedule to get it done.
